YOUR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE
AS A MARKETING TOOL

A meaningful electronic signature can boost your business. With one stroke of the pen (the click of a button), the electronic signature can describe an entire business: who the writer is, what type of services the company offers, the benefits and positive results clients can expect.

A carefully worded signature will enable you to attract and qualify prospects. You can invite the addressee to write back for free additional specific information, or subscribe to a newsletter you publish. What is offered must be in direct relationship to the specialized work or product of the author of the letter.

Here below are some useful guidelines to remember:

arrow1.gif (94 bytes) Write the complete name and address of your company, including telephone, fax numbers, e-mail address and URL in hyperlink format (samples below)

arrow1.gif (94 bytes) Include a precise description of your products or services

arrow1.gif (94 bytes) State the benefit to the client

arrow1.gif (94 bytes) Induce prospects to contact you further (offer something for free and that "something" must be in direct relationship to your type of business)

arrow1.gif (94 bytes) Avoid unsubstantiated statements such as "Go to my web page and you will learn how you can make $40,000 with a $10 investment."

The electronic signature is actually a crystallized version of one's business presentation. Ideally it should be no more than a larger size business card. After attempting different versions, it would be a good idea to seek an outsider's objective opinion.

Below are some sample signature files. Each clearly explains the areas in which its author specializes. It also indicates the reward or benefits that await the addressee if he/she follows up on the lead.  It is with sadness that we add this remark in 2001:  our dear friend, Mr. Herman Holtz, the guru of Consultants, an extraordinary gentleman and best-selling author, passed away in 2001.
